by far the strangest day of my young life.
its amazing how everyone knows exactly where they were when they heard that news. I can't name another moment in my life where everybody can do that.

I wish I was old enough to have gotten the whole magnitude of this event when it happened, but I was in 2nd grade, Mrs. Wenzel's class. I don't remember anything about it during school, but I'm pretty sure the parents were able to come pick us up. I just remember my mom and dad watching the news all day long and I just felt sad. I probably didn't know why, but I think there was just a feeling in that day where you could just tell, even if you were just a little kid.

I was teaching 7th grade my first year and walked into the office to check my mailbox just as the 2nd plane hit. The rest of the day was pretty much spent watching the tv. It was really a sad day for America and remember thinking we'd be in war pretty soon.

I had just taken off out of Raliegh NC on my way home from active duty. I ended up landing in Nashville and getting a rental car. Got home and reported to my National Guard unit. 2 weeks later we were mobilized and headfing to California for Desert Training.

Sr. year of high school...Ms. Hodges life skills class. They announced on the PA that a plane had flown into the WTC and no one had any idea it was terrorist. We turned the TV on just as the 2nd plane hit.

Let's see. I was 8 years old, and I can remember my parents picking me up early from school. I had no idea what was going on, and I remember them watching the news for a good bit of the day. My parents tried to explain it to me, but I don't think I really grasped it completely at the time.

was at msu, woke up... to get ready for class and as i was cookin some eggs and flap jacks turned on the tv... im channel surfing to find the weather i run across cnn who is replaying the first plane... then witnessed the 2nd plane crash. burned the shit out of my eggs and there was no salvaging the pancakes either. i remember just sitting there in a daze for like 3 hours.... just wondering wtf next.... since we're on this kinda topic... i was about 5 minutes from columbine high school in colorado my senior year as that shit went down... a group of us were being "cool" senior kids, skipping class to go bbq and drink beer... talk about all hell breaking loose, bomb threats were a daily thing for weeks after the fact.

7th grade mr. Sampson language arts class. The rest of the day was blurry/crazy because everyone was just talking about it and watching the TV. The funny thing was, ull like this ZZ, language arts was suppose to be an English class but our teacher turned it into a history class after sept 11th. The 2 things I remember writing/reading about were steve Biko and the California gold rush ha.

as i mentioned i was in the 7th grade when this happened. we just got in from JH football pratice to eat breakfest the cooks were talking about how there was probably gonna be a war but we dident know what they were talking about at the time then later on word of the mouth was that a plane flew into the WTC i dident see any clips until i came home from school every radio station and tv channel in the area dident do there regular stuff just talked news.
on a side note i was in OKC when the mural building was bombed in 1995 i was only 6 and in kindergarden at the time but i still remeber hearing the blast even though i dident really understand what was going on at the time. the blast was heard all thoughout the city

Can someone explain to me the importance of the WTC? I don't really know much about them, except that they were really tall buildings, but I mean I don't know if that was like a symbol for New Yorkers and Americans alike or what.
