Mike Leach is the man he was defintly one of my top 5 coaches. He was OUs OC during Stoops first year in Norman in 1999 So we're still running alot of the air raid concepts passed down from Leach and Mark Mangino(Who succeeded Leach as OC). But after Mangino left for Kansas I believe was in 04 we quit running a complete air raid offense and started running the offense you see now which is more of a spread pro style hybrid offense that uses lot of quick passes to set the deep pass over the top or the run.

Yea, all of that is in the book.... great story about how and where he found Heupel, they only had 2 weeks to find a qb, he found him in "Snow College" Utah.
"The reasons teams struggle when evaluating qb's is that sometimes thier priorities are out of order. They get caught up in arm strength, size, and speed. Things that are easy to measure. "Did you see that guy throw through the goalpost while kneeling at midfield?" That's great, but lasttime I checked you don't throw from your knees in a game. I've got defensive endswith great arm strength, but they aren't accurate. Arm strength is about 6th on my list. Accuracy is # 1!"..... Mike Leach

Now Josh Heuple has taken the job that Leach once had the OC for OU.

Thats why Mike Leach's qb's never got drafted..no arm strength. I like Leach but if you wanna play in the NFL you don't play for him.

I really want this book. The problem is... Its too hard and to find and if you do find a copy somewhere it cost a buttload. Thats Tiger Ellisons book on the run-n-shoot(he is the godfather of the shoot). He talks his about his RnS offense used from the double slots(flexbone) and how he ran it, Tiger ran alot of option too.

None. But the point is he got there and thats what you were wanting to know. Heuple had problems with his should during a injury from training camp and was released shortly after being named the 4th string QB. The Bengals picked him up and his shoulder was still bothering him then so they released and he started his coaching carreer

well that's what I'm saying....leach qbs don't succeedd after college. You play for leach if you love scoring points in ncaa..not an nfl career.

PATRIOTS!!!!! wide open shot gun pass happy, very very similar to Leach's way of doing things.... hmmm ironicly Brady leads the NFL in passing, Welker(my fav player) who is from T.T. leads the NFL in rec and is on pace to break every record held. ;D The surging Detriot Lions are also running a spread type offense!

While I agree that the NFL is changing, what do those two QBs have in common? They have freaking rockets attached to their neck. Now, arm strength can be built up (anyone remember how much worse Rodgers was supposed to be than Kyle Boller?). But still, one would like to have someone with a little more arm strength than the typical TT QB (in recent years) when finding their franchise QB.

The pats basically are a air raid team they use all of the staples of the air raid offense.
