That is a Spread Option Offense on this game. When I say spread option, I mean no under center the whole game. Every since I came into the league, with the exception of maybe TT/Mizz last year I have ran Florida's spread option offense. As far as I know, I'm pretty sure I am the only one in the league that runs this style of offense. The reason for this is obvious b/c of how I am a Florida fan and have been playing with and only with that playblock since NCAA 08. Basically I know UF's playbook like the back of my penis. Although I had what seem like a successful season at 10-3, I was overly concerned going into the playoffs with my offense of play. Every game during the regular season where I was facing a well respected opponent I would struggle to score and usually prevail with a solid A+ defense.
Anyways before this turns into a novel, I just don't think the spread works well on this game for a couple reasons.
1. D-line play obviously is just incredible on this game. Though everyone talks about the pass rush, running the ball out of the shotgun is just as tough. Penetration on blitzes is tough to pick up, and the majority of the in spread runs are off tackle, which becomes problems with the DE's screaming off the edge in this game.
2. Vertical Passing game not as effective. This can be attributed to many things that obviously have been mentioned before with the pass rush, pass committ, CPU controlled players awareness much better, Qbs ackuracy toned down a lil from years past, etc.
3. Speed does not kill in this game. The whole purpose of the spread option attack is to get your fast guys the ball on the perimeter, or put your fast guys in mismatch situations. Much tougher to get in these situations, and when they do, you might pick up big yards, but they're not the home runs like in years past.
4. Screens(WR) no more. WR screens are a big part of the SOO but if your opponent has anyone near the flat or man'ed up, you are not going to have suckess. Some of the most suckessful WR screens I've seen on this game go for 10 yards.
I could go on for days. Don't get me wrong, I had success with UF's offense with them being the best team in the game but I think me and my coaching staff are making major adjustments to my offensive/defensive philosophies now that I will never play with a team of that caliber. I have been stubborn for way to long sticking to that style of play. Excited for the change and the new season in the 305. Championships are the expectation there and I would expect nothing less. GL to all this season, lets get it on!
