Actually I am a "Real Basketball Coach" we have our players go through a weight lifting circuit which consists of upper and lower body lifts. We lift minimal weights, all of our athlete cut up pretty smooth. Now the downside is that we lift with more reps, which means their is not a lot of power lifting. So the question is do you want to impress some chicks or do you want to slang someone in the paint? This will determine your workouts. All of the suggestions that have been made have been on point, but many different individuals with different philosophies. You don't want to have your fast twitch muscles dominated by big thick slow moving muscles. Heavy lifting is more so for football, basketball lifts for power during the fall, during the spring and summer its usually maintenance; because you are actually playing basketball.

haha butt squeeze ur too dumb for your own good. When on here have I even described a workout regime or routine that I do? Just because I squat and dead lift heavy you think i'm big and slow? I would run circles through and around your ass, im 6'2 and white and can easily grab the rim on a 10 foot basketball hoop and if I really wanted to, and I put few months into it, I could throw down the hammer. How many 6'2 whiteys you know that can do that? Big and slow bitch please, I do plyos after every god damn workout I do. I lift hard and heavy for 45 mins then run, jump rope, broad jump, box jump, or do tons of different shit with the medicine balls and ropes that you couldnt even think of possible. Notice how I didn't even once talk about my "strength" in that entire paragraph. Big Jang Athelticism > Minor League Catcher Athleticism. Good Day.

grab rim?? funny... i threw down a dunk in h.s. hoops, in a game, yes in a game just to clear that up..... (djcali, yes white men can jump) that was before i became a proffesional athlete. keep grabbing rim and train yourself for few months and go throw one down then come clean my jock strap.... ill be 40 years old and still be more athletic than you in your prime.... deal with it.

I love how squeeze says he's a professional athlete too. Were you even drafted? Being picked in the 45th round and playing single A ball isn't anything to Bragg about or proclaim you were a "professional" at. Hell my friend in high school was picked in the 32nd round, oh boy.

It doesn't matter if I had another inch and a half and was ur size I'd be throwing it down too. Deal with it. Thing is I can still do it at my size and I weighed 165 in high school and ive put on 50 pounds since and can still get up. You were prolly a buck 80 in HS and filled out to whatever you said you are now 235 and can't even touch the rim.
you should be in your prime athletically not me, you're 30. Deal with it. This is JV hour at its finest.

Intriguing Ohgeez I was dunking in the 9th grade, dunking isn't that special if you can't dribble the ball from point "A" to point "B". But I'm glad you can get up there, my goal was to lay my nuts on the person I was dunking on face. Dunks with someone trying to play defense are the best.
Thurman I am dissappointed you decided to pursue your destiny as a manager. I encourage you to spend some time working out over the summer and re-evaulate your plans at the conclusion. If you still think your not actually going to play, then you can lift heavy year round.

Ironic? lol, your an idiot dude. wipe your tears. quite diggin, clawin, scratchin... just stop breathing... give it up. your comment about filling out and adding weight and still being able to dunk, then trying to say that i added weight and cant even move...... dude, what sense does that make?? lol and for your record... i weighed 190 as a junior in h.s. and 205 my senior year.

Cali, some peope just dont have what it takes to play basketball. As far as athleticism and coordination basketball is by far the toughest. Im not sure why you are disappointed in him.
And jesus would someone lock this thread please.

That's fine dumb ass just don't be cocky about it and call urself a professional like anyone in baseball gave a rats ass about you and your talent while you were there. I know about 3 or 4 guys that played in the D League and none of them think so highly of themselves like you do with ur A ball playing days. You act like ur the white Bo Jackson.

You have to be pretty coordinated to dribble well, jump, and shoot a ball through small hoop. Hand/eye coordination is pretty key in basketball. I never like basketball. Could never shoot worth a shit. I was always pretty good in the perimeter defensively until they actually jumped and shot the ball. Was always a football guy.

How the hell are you putting me in my place? My high school team was #3 in the state my senior year and I shot 48% from 3. I would hit J's in your face all day long and swat the hell out of anything you brought to the paint. And were not talking about little town montana basketball, were talking Ohio D1 basketball where the big boys play.
the only thing ur prolly better then me at is baseball and man touching (wrestling) and the funny thing is baseball was my best sport I just couldnt stay out of trouble in high school and my coach was a big disciplinarian and that was that. You really put me in my place. Deal with it.

I think Tennis may be the toughest. It's not just finding the ball, but holding your wrists right. I was never good at it, I always knocked the tennis ball over the fence into the adjacent tennis court. Only physical education activity I ever took where I got less than an A in.
